Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Spill the Tea on 'It Ends With Us' Amidst Feud Rumors
Blake Lively's It Ends With Us Debuts Strong at Box Office
Blake Lively's latest film, It Ends With Us, has had a stellar opening at the box office, no doubt boosted by online speculation about a rift between the co-stars.
The film, which also stars Justin Baldoni, is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2016 bestselling book about a love triangle between florist Lily Bloom (Lively), neurosurgeon Ryle (Baldoni), and her first boyfriend, Atlas (Brandon Sklenar).
According to movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research's David Gross, It Ends With Us had a sensational opening for a dramatic romance film.
However, there has been speculation of tension between Baldoni and Lively around the time of the film's release.
Unidentified sources from both sides spoke to People for its Aug. 11 issue, claiming that Baldoni made Lively feel uncomfortable about her postpartum body, having just given birth to her fourth child.
Baldoni, the film's star and director, didn't participate in the film's press junket.
Lively, who also produced the film, commissioned her own version from a different editor (Shane Reid, an editor on Deadpool & Wolverine) after disagreeing with Baldoni during the postproduction process about what the final film would look like.
Internet sleuths noticed that Lively and Hoover both unfollowed Baldoni on Instagram (though he follows them).
Audiences have liked the film, giving it an A- on CinemaScore and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes as of Monday afternoon.
It made another $30 million internationally.
Author/executive producer Colleen Hoover and Lively attended the Aug. 10 premiere in New York City.
Baldoni's production company, Wayfarer Studios, acquired the rights to Hoover's book in 2019.
