EasyJet's Shocking Luggage Fee: What You Need to Know

img

Big news for travelers! EasyJet has made a change to its luggage policies that could affect your next getaway. The budget airline has decided to remove the free hold luggage allowance on selected city break packages, which means travelers will now need to pay if they want to bring along large cabin and hold luggage on their flights. The only luggage that remains free is hand luggage.

Don’t worry if you’ve booked a flight-only ticket with EasyJet; these new rules won’t apply to you. Additionally, other tour packages will still include hold luggage, so you can breathe a sigh of relief if you're booking a comprehensive trip. However, if you’re jetting off on a city break and plan to bring large cabin bags (the kind that fit in the overhead compartments), there’s a fee of £5.99 each way, and hold luggage weighing up to 23kg will cost £9.49.

Curious if these changes will steer you away from EasyJet? We want to hear your thoughts! Feel free to share your opinions via email at webtravel@reachplc.com.

In a recent statement, EasyJet Holidays explained their decision: “We pride ourselves on delivering brilliant holidays at unbeatable prices, so we continuously listen to our customers on what would make our packages even better.”

They continued, “Our customers have told us that 23kg for city breaks isn't always necessary, which is why, starting August 7, 2024, our city break holidays will include flights and hotel accommodation as standard, along with the option of adding large cabin bags and hold luggage for a fee.”

Excitingly, it seems EasyJet is tailoring their offerings to the needs of modern travelers! All savings made by not including luggage in the initial booking will be reflected in the overall holiday cost. This flexible approach aims to enhance customer experience and ease throughout your booking journey.

While the adjustments won’t impact those who like to travel light, it is essential to note that if you plan on packing more, you may find yourself spending more on top of the city break package itself.
