In his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, the legendary singer opens up about a wild drug binge with John Lennon that left him in a state of panic.

According to People, John revealed that he and Lennon were snorting mountains of coke in a New York City hotel room at 2 a.m. when they heard a knock at the door.

I was being paranoid, John admitted. I asked, 'Is that the police?'

It took John several minutes to gather the courage to look through the peephole. To his relief, it was Andy Warhol.

However, Lennon was not as enthusiastic about Warhol's presence. Like, no thanks, he reportedly said. That was the fun part of cocaine.

John and Lennon were concerned about Warhol's Polaroid camera, which they feared would document their drug use.

Despite the humorous anecdote, John has previously expressed regret over his drug use. My biggest regret is taking drugs, he told Today in 2019.

John has been sober for 30 years and has used his experience to help other celebrities overcome addiction.
