One noteworthy opinion came from actor John Leguizamo, who ignited a mixed wave of responses with his speech. He took a moment to share his experience growing up in Hollywood, speaking out against the castings of predominantly white actors in Latino roles. Leguizamo proclaimed, "I didn't know that people like me could be actors," while referencing legends like Marlon Brando, Emiliano Zapata, and Al Pacino for their portrayals. "Everybody played us except us," he stated, illustrating how he used to watch shows like *Star Trek* and wonder why there were no Latin individuals represented in the future.

In his passionate speech, he recalled an article he penned on the lack of roles offered to LatinX actors, expressing a sense of cautious optimism, saying, "What I see here tonight makes me, well, almost happy.
