If I were to step into the shoes of Prime Minister of Australia, my first official decree would ensure that every hotel includes a swim-up pool bar akin to the glorious one at Oaks Resort in Port Douglas. There’s just something about swim-up bars that draws me in like a moth to a flame! Trust me, I’ve seen enough to confidently declare this bar as one of the finest in the entire country. It’s a must-have experience for anyone visiting Port Douglas, be it for a honeymoon, a family getaway, a friends’ retreat, or a well-deserved solo vacation. The bar also serves a delightful array of frozen mocktails and slushies, making it an ideal destination for those on a babymoon – which is precisely what took me to this charming little Queensland town.

The Oaks Port Douglas is a stunning property situated just a short stroll from the renowned Four Mile Beach, offering a mix of classic hotel rooms and spacious one- or two-bedroom apartments. This place is a true tropical paradise! The moment you enter the lobby, you are welcomed by the soothing sounds of a waterfall, a picturesque lilypad pond, and wooden boardwalks that lead you to the expansive lagoon-style pool. You can opt for a room adjacent to the pool for easy access or a more secluded space hidden among the palm trees and lush greenery if you're looking for some privacy.

Now, apart from my admiration for the pool that I can’t stop raving about, the on-site spa is a haven that truly won my heart. I indulged in an hour-long pregnancy massage that was precisely what I needed to ease into my holiday, surrounded by the calming ambiance of the spa. They also offer hot stone massages and beauty treatments, allowing you to fill your day with one rejuvenating appointment after another.

Guests have four dining options at their fingertips: the pool bar, the Lilypad Café, which serves a hearty buffet breakfast, the Little Pizza Company for casual dinners, and the Oak & Vine restaurant.
