Linkin Park Fans Target Chester Bennington's Son Over Emily Armstrong Criticism

img

Chester Bennington's son, Jaime Bennington, recently opened up about feeling "unsafe" attending Linkin Park reunion shows after facing harsh backlash from some fans. This criticism came as a result of his comments regarding the band's new singer, Emily Armstrong. Chester, the beloved former lead singer of Linkin Park, tragically passed away by suicide at the age of 41 in 2017. Since then, the band had been on hiatus, much to the dismay of their devoted fans. However, the recent announcement of a reunion featuring new members, including Emily and drummer Colin Brittain, reignited the excitement among the fanbase.

But not all the responses have been positive. Emily's debut with the band has led to controversy, particularly due to her ties to the Church of Scientology and her previous support for actor Danny Masterson, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for two counts of rape that occurred in 2001 and 2003. In response to the backlash, Emily later clarified that she was "supporting a friend" at the time but admitted she "misjudged" the situation.

Jaime took to social media to express his concerns, accusing Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda of "quietly erasing" his father's legacy, especially during International Suicide Prevention Month. Jaime voiced his discontent about the band's decision to hire Emily given her controversial connections to Scientology and her past support for Masterson. His posts reflected his feelings of isolation and unrest within the fanbase.

In a revealing statement, Jaime shared, “There are a lot of people who do not like me. There are a lot of people saying some really awful things right now to me. To be honest, I don’t feel safe going to the show under general admission because I don’t know who I’m around. I don’t know who would recognize me or take it upon themselves to respond to me in an aggressive manner when I’m just there to see the show. But I do need to see it.” His words highlight the emotional turmoil he's navigating while dealing with not only his father’s legacy but also an unwelcoming segment of the fan community
