Luggage Hack: How to Avoid Ryanair's Hefty Fees

img

When it comes to traveling on a budget, two clever holidaymakers took innovation to a whole new level by creating a giant coat complete with super-sized pockets to carry their luggage. This creative approach allowed them to avoid a whopping £300 in extra fees when flying with Ryanair!

Joshua Pieters and his adventurous friend Archie Manners had a brilliant idea: why not wear their entire 30 kg of luggage to bypass those pesky additional costs for their flight from Luton Airport to Portugal this past June? The coat—a custom creation—boasted "heavy-duty" pockets that could easily accommodate all their essentials, including a portable kettle and even a compact sofa!

Archie, not one to be outdone, decided to don a tent for the journey, effectively bringing along their "accommodation" without incurring any extra charges. Talk about thinking outside the box!

Have you tried any savvy hacks like this to save on extra luggage fees? We’d love to hear your tips! Feel free to share your thoughts at webtravel@reachplc.com.

Leading content creator Joshua's coat was packed with holiday necessities: from teabags and shorts to a beach ball and even a spork! They even included essential toiletries like shampoo and conditioner. Although they drew some puzzled stares from fellow travelers, footage captured the duo breezing through security—hassle-free—before landing in the sun-soaked paradise of Portugal.

According to Joshua, their ingenuity saved them £59.99 per leg of the journey, plus an additional £120 for exceeding the baggage weight limit. It's no wonder that their entertaining adventure has garnered over 11,000 views in less than a day!

Joshua, a Londoner, shared, “It’s a question everyone wonders: ‘Could I wear my luggage?’ or ‘Can I stuff my pockets instead of paying for a suitcase?’ It’s true! Airlines promote these incredibly cheap flights, but we often end up shelling out way more than anticipated. We wanted to test whether it was possible to benefit from budget flights at their advertised prices.”
