Michaela Coel's New Series: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Family Reconnection

Get ready for a captivating new series from the brilliant mind of Michaela Coel, the creator of the acclaimed I May Destroy You. Coel will star in, write, and executive produce First Day on Earth, a 10-part series that promises to explore themes of identity, family, and the search for belonging.

In First Day on Earth, Coel plays a UK novelist who travels to Ghana, her parents' homeland, to work on a film and reconnect with her estranged father. However, upon her arrival, she finds that neither the job nor her father meets her expectations.

Coel reunites with Various Artists Limited, the production company behind I May Destroy You, for this new project. Joining her as executive producers are Jesse Armstrong of Succession, Phil Clarke and Roberto Troni of Various Artists Limited, Jo McClellan of the BBC, and Piers Wenger of A24.
