Ted Lasso's Phil Dunster Joins Forces with Steve Carell in HBO's Latest Comedy Adventure!

Phil Dunster, the ever-charming star of *Ted Lasso*, is hopping across the pond to grace the U.S. with his presence for his next big role. If you haven't heard, our beloved Jamie Tartt is set to join forces with none other than Steve Carell in a new HBO comedy series, which has been lovingly concocted by the brilliant duo, Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s practically a reunion tour for Dunster and Lawrence, who previously gifted us with the delightful *Ted Lasso* over at Apple TV+. Talk about a match made in comedic heaven!
The currently untitled gem received a straight-to-series order from HBO back in May, because who doesn’t want to jump on the Phil Dunster bandwagon? Set on a vibrant college campus, the series dives into the delightful morass of a complicated father-daughter relationship. And while we'd love to spill the beans about the role Dunster will play, it seems the details are being kept tightly under wraps. Surprise, surprise!
Lawrence and Tarses, the dream team who brought us the unforgettable *Scrubs* and the whimsically entertaining *Bad Monkey*, are also handling the penning of the first episode. And just to up the ante, they'll executive produce alongside Carell, as well as Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer from Lawrence’s company Doozer Productions. It’s like a Hollywood soirée, but with more laughter and fewer awkward small talk moments.
Dunster, who was nominated for an Emmy in 2023 for his role as AFC Richmond's ever-dreamy striker Jamie Tartt (within what some are calling the third and possibly-not-final season of *Ted Lasso*), seems to be on a roll. Next, he’ll be appearing in the much-anticipated second season of Apple TV+’s *Surface*. His previous credits include a recurring role in *The Devil’s Hour* over at Prime Video, along with Prime’s upcoming flick *Picture This*, and he’s lent his charm to *The Good Liar* and *Murder on the Orient Express*. Truly, it seems his to-do list is as long as his talent is impressive!
And while we’re here eagerly awaiting more updates on this project, Dunster is well-represented by the ever-entertaining team at CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Shelter PR, and Jackoway Austen. Honestly, with a roster like that, he might just need a separate email server for all the incoming projects. Stay tuned, my friends; the world of Phil Dunster continues to unfold, one charming role at a time!
