The Cure's Roots Revealed: Iconic Poster Unearthed in Pub of First Gig

The Cure fans, rejoice! A poster advertising their new album, Songs Of A Lost World, has appeared at The Railway Inn in Crawley, the band's hometown and the site of their first gig in 1978.
The poster, displayed in a frame, was delivered on Thursday (September 12) and has since attracted many fans to the pub. A fan meet-up is reportedly planned for later today (September 14).
This week, The Cure sent fans postcards seemingly confirming the album title and release date of November 1. Earlier this week, the band teased a new album on their social media pages, replacing their profile picture with a new logo on an all-black background.
Guitarist Reeves Gabrels shared a link to the band's redesigned website and urged fans to sign up for the mailing list. Eden, the son of bassist Simon Gallup, excited fans by posting lyrics from the new song Alone: This is the end of every song that we sing...
The news comes ahead of the release of two new songs as live recordings on a double A-side for climate charity Earth Percent. The 12 Eco-Vinyl single features And Nothing Is Forever and I Can Never Say Goodbye, recorded during the French leg of the band's Shows Of A Lost World tour.
These are the first new tracks from The Cure in 16 years. In 2022, they performed two other new tracks, Alone and Endsong, on their world tour. All of the unreleased songs are expected to be featured on the band's long-awaited new album, Songs Of A Lost World, their first LP since 2008's 4:13 Dream.
In a four-star review of their live performance at London's OVO Arena Wembley in 2022, NME noted that Smith promised that the new songs 'won't be new for much longer.' The review described the new tracks as stunning and devastating, with howling guitars and fear of shadows growing closer now.
